J. K. Rowling nasceu Joanne Rowling em Yate, no Reino Unido, a 31 de Julho de 1965. Escreveu a história Rabbit quando tinha seis anos e o seu primeiro romance aos sete.
p>A K. Rowling concebeu a história Harry Potter em 1990. Nos cinco anos seguintes, ela começou a mapear a história para os sete livros da série. Ela publicou o primeiro livro da série, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, através da Bloomsbury Children’s Books, em Junho de 1997. A Warner Bros. lançou a adaptação cinematográfica do romance em 2001. O último filme baseado nos sete livros, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, foi lançado em 2011. Lançou também o romance The Casual Vacancy.
Ela também escreveu romances policiais como Robert Galbraith que apresentava Cormoran Strike. Ela publicou o primeiro livro da série, The Cuckoo’s Calling, em 2013. Seguiram-se The Silkworm and Career of Evil, em 2014 e 2015. Escreveu a peça de teatro Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two. Fez a sua estreia como argumentista com Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, que se prepara para ser uma série de cinco filmes.
